At the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD), I lead delivery of the agricultural program under Western Australia’s Sectoral Emissions Reduction Strategy, a $15M portfolio. I brought about 30 sector leads with competing priorities to agreement on 11 initiatives, which the state government adopted in February 2024.
I also prepared the business case and briefings that secured a $3M DPIRD investment in the ZNE-Ag CRC. I now oversee five CRC projects focused on SERS priorities, including methane and nitrous oxide reduction.
At the Ministry for Primary Industries’ Centre for Climate Action on Agricultural Emissions, I helped establish AgriZeroNZ, a NZ$170M government commitment matched by private partners, and initiated its first four emissions reduction projects, worth NZ$25M. I also developed investment governance tools, including a Mātauranga Māori innovation framework.
Earlier, at Sugar Research Australia, I aligned researchers and partner organisations in the $7M More Profit from Nitrogen program, contributing to a 20% reduction in dissolved nitrogen flowing into Great Barrier Reef catchments. At Australian Wool Innovation, I delivered the first wool supply chain life cycle assessment, informing the sheep industry sustainability framework and wool eco-credentials.
