Darrin Wade

Taught two undergraduate courses and created scenic and lighting designs for the Theatre at Southeastern company season. Maintained and improved scenic shop equipment and inventory, planned scheduled maintenance, and supported departmental events as needed.

Provided lighting design for theatrical drama, theatrical musicals, dance shows, amusement park lighting, special events, and architectural/ambient lighting. Managed contracting workflows and paperwork, handled fast turnaround updates, communicated professionally by email, and trained onboarded crews and staff.

Took notes during patient interviews and documented encounters in medical charts to support clinician workflow. Completed additional clerical duties as needed.

Taught two courses and supported two additional courses, while handling set design and construction and managing lighting design and hanging. Procured properties and assigned and trained technical crews for shows, events, and conferences in the theatre auditorium.

Designed and supported installation of lighting for a Universal Studios Halloween Horror Maze and programmed lighting cues to sync with sound for autonomous show operation. Handled nightly start-up/shut-down and ran integrity checks throughout each show.

Maintained and installed lighting instruments for Disneyland’s World of Color show. Supported fountain water jet robots and pyrotechnic robots on a hydraulic floating platform and joined a selected crew working on Christie 4K projectors and projection-mapping software.

Worked with the head drafter to continue drafting tasks, clean up red-line marked work, and produce redrafts. Supported ongoing revisions to keep deliverables accurate and up to date.

Volunteered at a Howard University medical-student community fair to disseminate mental health and community health program information. Provided resources to attendees and hospital staff and supported efforts to reduce burnout through appreciation, food, and materials.

Obtained an AAA Food Handler certification in April 2024, valid through 2027.

Earned a B.S. in Biology from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in June 2020 (Summa Cum Laude).

Completed a bartending certification at TAM - Local Bartending School in March 2024.

M.D. candidate at Howard University College of Medicine (July 2022–January 2024).

Completed a Point of Sale certification via Udemy in April 2024.

Earned an M.F.A. in Fine Arts (Lighting Design) from the University of California, Irvine. Thesis: Woyzeck; advisors: Lonnie Alcaraz and Jaymi Lee Smith.

Earned a B.F.A. in Fine Arts (Tech Theatre) from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in June 2013 (Magna Cum Laude). Minored in Computer Science.
