Daniel Méndez
@danielmndez1
Mechanical engineer focused on industrial maintenance, CAPEX projects, and KPI-driven reliability.
What I'm looking for
I’m a mechanical engineer specializing in industrial maintenance, CAPEX project management, and continuous improvement in manufacturing environments. I focus on safety, operational reliability, and measurable performance using industrial KPIs.
In plant shutdown work, I supervise and coordinate multidisciplinary teams and ensure safe work permits and compliance with operational safety standards. I also drive schedule alignment with engineering and operations and prepare daily reporting on progress and execution of critical tasks.
At BEKAERT, I led maintenance CAPEX projects with an annual budget of approximately USD 300,000. I implemented interlock systems and executed LOTOTO improvements across mechanical and electrical assets, while supporting the installation of remote consoles and laser measurement systems to improve precision and continuity.
My approach is data-driven: I analyze OEE, availability, quality, MTTR, and MTBF, and support maintenance decision-making through tools like SAP PM, Excel, and Power BI. I’ve also participated in SAP PM upgrade and migration as a Key User, trained operators and technicians, and delivered Kaizen-driven improvements that contributed to an OEE above 75% in my thesis work.

Supervisor Engineer - Shutdown
Nix Proyectos
Nov 2025 - Jan 2026 (2 months)
Supervised and coordinated a team of 24 mechanical and electrical technicians during an annual plant shutdown at a metallurgical plant. Managed on-site maintenance activities, safe work permits, safety compliance, schedule changes, and daily progress and safety reporting.
Led and managed maintenance CAPEX projects with an annual budget of approximately USD 300,000, implementing Interlock systems on 21 stranding machines and LOTOTO improvements across 50+ pneumatic components and 15 electrical panels. Supported preventive maintenance and structural work, and participated as a Key User in a global SAP PM upgrade while training operators and technicians and monitoring
Internship and Thesis Project
Electrolux
Jan 2019 - May 2020 (1 year 4 months)
Performed statistical analysis of the enamelling process using OEE KPIs to identify improvement opportunities across availability, performance, and quality. Implemented Kaizen-driven continuous improvement actions, process mapping to remove bottlenecks and waste, and a pilot monitoring/control system to improve data reliability and decision-making.
