Carlos A Grillo

I’m a mathematician and lecturer, driven by the idea: “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a Mathematics day in your life.” I enjoy translating rigorous quantitative thinking into practical modeling, especially when the problem involves uncertainty and optimization.

My academic work centers on applied machine learning and statistics. My B.S. thesis, “Estudio de la influencia de la variable sexo en la predicción de la potencia de una lente intraocular usando un perceptrón multicapas,” uses a multilayer perceptron to analyze how “sexo” influences prediction of intraocular lens power.

I teach and support learning in mathematics and applied physics as a Lecturer, collaborating with the Mathematics and Applied Physics Department, Faculty of Industrial Engineering, Matanzas University. Alongside teaching, I also bring experience in academic research, simulation, consultation, and publication-focused work.

I build with Python, R, and C/C++, using SQL (including MySQL and PostgreSQL) to work effectively with data. I’m also comfortable in Linux environments, with Git and cloud platforms, and I’m especially interested in machine learning, deep learning, inferential statistics, pattern recognition, and numerical and non-linear optimization.
