What I'm looking for

I seek backend engineering roles where I can build scalable APIs, apply test-driven development, use AI to boost productivity, work in agile teams, and continue learning.

I am a dedicated Software Engineering student at Kirinyaga University concentrating on backend development, software architecture, and applying AI for productivity. I have hands-on experience building scalable, maintainable systems using Java (Spring Boot) and Python (Django), and I prioritize robust testing with JUnit and Mockito.

During a Backend Developer attachee role at Turnkey Africa, I developed and consumed RESTful APIs, converted PL/SQL procedures to Java service logic, implemented Liquibase migrations, and created secure endpoints for business-critical modules. I actively participated in agile team practices and contributed to improving code reliability through unit tests and API design.

I continuously expand my skills through trainings in Generative AI, backend web development, and professional foundations, and I enjoy applying AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT to streamline workflows. I seek to solve real-world problems, mentor peers, and contribute to high-impact backend projects.
