Basem Elshayeb

I am a general and bariatric surgeon with long-standing clinical practice in Cairo and international training in advanced laparoscopy and bariatric techniques. I have served as surgeon and lecturer at Ain Shams University and performed primary and revisional bariatric procedures as first surgeon.

My clinical experience includes gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, VBG, management of postoperative leaks, and post-bariatric body-contouring, with weekly operative practice during my academic tenure. I am an IFSO member since 2010 and completed attachments at Nice University and training in New Delhi and New York institutions.

I have published and presented multiple international papers and conference talks on banded micro-pouch Roux-en-Y techniques, management of band erosions, and long-term outcomes of banding gastric bypass. I have also completed an MD and Master degree in General Surgery and hold MRCS Part 1.

I communicate effectively in Arabic, English and have working knowledge of French, and I bring teamwork, decision-making and problem-solving skills to clinical and academic environments. I seek to continue advancing bariatric care and surgical education through practice, research and teaching.
