Asiya Salaudeen

Veterinary medicine student building One Health impact through public health education.
What I'm looking for
I’m a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) student at Ahmadu Bello University, driven by public health and the goal of improving the health and wellbeing of animals. I’m guided by the belief that “the health of animals, people, and the environment are deeply connected,” and I work to make that connection real through One Health education and action.
In my current role as Team Lead and Project Coordinator at War Against Rabies Foundation – CHEAP Club, I lead the implementation of CHEAP Club in secondary schools. I bring One Health education directly into classrooms “not just as theory,” but as something lived and practiced—focused on animal welfare, biosecurity, and preventing zoonotic diseases.
As a Project Manager with the International Veterinary Students Association (Ahmadu Bello University), I coordinated public-facing health initiatives for World Tuberculosis Day and created awareness content for World Health Day, World Glaciers Day, and World Veterinary Day. I designed health education exhibits and interactive games, led creative concept development for awareness videos, and built visual storytelling strategies to help audiences understand health messages.
My experience also includes veterinary hospital, abattoir, and farm internships—supporting animal welfare awareness, assisting veterinarians with patient care and treatment, and contributing to meat inspection and case files. I’ve strengthened my One Health foundation through “One Health in action against Neglected Tropical Disease” (OpenWHO.org) and continued volunteering through community outreach and animal advocacy initiatives.
