Amiel Katz
@amielkatz
Editorial assistant and poetry teacher blending copyediting, curriculum design, and advocacy-driven storytelling.
What I'm looking for
I’m a writing and editorial professional building work that meets people where they are—on the page and in community. At Harvard, I’m pursuing a BA in History and Literature: American Studies (Honors), with a focus on how stories shape culture, identity, and public understanding.
Right now, I teach poetry at South Bay Jail, guiding participants in drafting, revising, and presenting original work for publication “Not Beyond Hope.” I develop curriculum and lesson plans that integrate literary analysis, cultural themes, and personal narrative—expanding access to literature for incarcerated folks with varying literacy levels.
Alongside teaching, I copyedit and support publication as an Editorial Assistant and Editorial Intern, collaborating with editors to curate themed issues and provide weekly feedback on poetry manuscripts. Through Partners in Health Engage, I’ve coordinated advocacy and leadership development, coached national teams on recruitment and retention, and helped drive DEI-forward changes to fundraising language and processes.
