Akanksha Chauhan

At Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, my PhD research explores lipid membrane biophysics and protein-membrane interactions, including protein-free vesicle transformations and α-synuclein interactions with membranes.

I use confocal, DIC, and epifluorescence imaging alongside DLS and semi-automated image analysis to connect membrane geometry and energetics with protein binding and aggregation. My work also applies the Canham-Helfrich framework to quantitative elastic energy landscapes of giant lipid vesicles.

As Operator In-charge of the Olympus FV1200 Confocal Microscope at IIT Delhi's central research facility, I support the facility's microscope operations. Earlier, I worked on cloning and extraction of non-structural chikungunya virus proteins and on preclinical drug testing for burn injuries using animal models.
