Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Weed Science Research Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of advancing our understanding of weed science through hands-on research, experimentation, and field trials. You will lead a dynamic team dedicated to innovating solutions for effective weed management in agricultural ecosystems.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage field experiments aimed at evaluating weed control methods and their efficacy.
- Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data related to weed population dynamics and management practices.
- Lead the preparation of research reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders and the scientific community.
- Collaborate with agronomists, ecologists, and other scientists to integrate weed management practices into broader agricultural research initiatives.
- Train and mentor junior technicians and interns, fostering a culture of safety, precision, and continuous learning.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure successful execution of research initiatives.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in agronomy, plant science, weed science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in agricultural research, specifically in weed management or related areas.
- Proven track record of conducting field experiments and managing research projects.
- Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in statistical analysis and data interpretation.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Experience with precision agriculture technologies and data-driven decision-making.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance related to pesticide application and environmental safety.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in experimental design and statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, or similar).
- Proficiency in GPS and GIS technologies for spatial analysis of weed populations.
- Knowledge of herbicide modes of action and integrated weed management strategies.
