Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Water Treatment Plant Manager to oversee the operations and management of our water treatment facilities. In this pivotal role, you will ensure compliance with regulatory standards, optimize plant operations for efficiency and sustainability, and lead a dedicated team of professionals committed to providing safe and clean water to our communities.
Responsibilities
- Direct and manage the overall operations of the water treatment plant, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of plant processes
- Lead and mentor plant staff, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Monitor plant performance metrics, identify areas for optimization, and implement corrective actions as needed
- Oversee maintenance programs for mechanical and electrical systems to ensure reliable plant operations
- Prepare and manage the plant budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation and financial sustainability
- Collaborate with environmental and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and address any potential issues
- Implement training programs for staff on safety protocols, operational procedures, and compliance requirements
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in water treatment operations, with at least 3 years in a management role
- Thorough knowledge of water treatment processes, regulatory requirements, and industry standards
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision making
Preferred:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification
- Experience with advanced water treatment technologies and sustainable practices
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in water treatment processes, including coagulation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and process control technologies
- Experience with data analysis and reporting tools for performance monitoring
