Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Water Treatment Operations to lead and optimize our water treatment facilities. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, enhancing operational efficiency, and driving innovations in water treatment processes. You will oversee a team of engineers and operators, fostering a culture of safety and sustainability while leveraging your expertise to improve water quality and service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of water treatment operations
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing water quality and treatment processes
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of treatment processes, including filtration, disinfection, and chemical treatment
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to drive continuous improvement
- Manage the budget for water treatment operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource optimization
- Foster a culture of safety, sustainability, and operational excellence within the team
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including environmental compliance, engineering, and maintenance, to align on operational goals and projects
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and training to water treatment staff, enhancing their skills and professional development
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in water treatment operations or related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- In-depth knowledge of water treatment processes, technologies, and regulatory requirements
- Proven track record of managing large-scale water treatment facilities and leading diverse teams
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification
- Experience with advanced water treatment technologies such as membrane filtration or reverse osmosis
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in water quality analysis and treatment processes
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools for operational metrics
- Experience with SCADA systems and process control technologies
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance standards
