Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary Chief of Viteroretinal Services to lead our dynamic team in delivering pioneering care and advancing the field of viteroretinal surgery. This role is integral to shaping the strategic direction of our services, ensuring the highest standards of clinical excellence, and fostering innovative research initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and clinical oversight to the Viteroretinal Services department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and standards of care.
- Drive the development and implementation of best practices in viteroretinal surgery, promoting evidence-based techniques and continuous improvement.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of specialists, fostering collaboration and mentorship to cultivate the next generation of viteroretinal experts.
- Engage in cutting-edge research initiatives, securing funding and partnerships to advance clinical trials and novel therapeutic approaches.
- Act as a key spokesperson for the department, representing the organization in national and international forums to promote our vision and achievements.
- Oversee departmental budgets, resource allocation, and performance metrics to ensure operational efficiency and excellence.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with board certification in Ophthalmology, specializing in Viteroretinal Surgery.
- A minimum of 10 years of clinical experience in viteroretinal surgery, with a proven record of leadership and clinical excellence.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex surgical cases and developing innovative treatment protocols.
Preferred:
- Experience in an academic medical center or leading a viteroretinal program.
- Publication record in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national conferences.
- Track record of securing research grants and funding.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in advanced viteroretinal surgical techniques and technologies, including but not limited to, vitrectomy, retinal detachment repair, and macular surgery.
- Familiarity with the latest diagnostic imaging technologies such as OCT, fluorescein angiography, and retinal photography.
- Knowledge of electronic medical record systems and telemedicine applications for patient care.
