Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary Director of Virology to lead our cutting-edge research initiatives focused on viral diseases. In this role, you will be responsible for directing advanced virology programs, developing innovative therapeutic strategies, and fostering collaborations with academic and industry partners to drive scientific discovery and translate research into impactful treatments.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the strategic direction of virology research programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and mission.
- Develop and implement research strategies to identify and validate novel antiviral compounds, leveraging both in vitro and in vivo models.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including immunology, pharmacology, and clinical development, to advance therapeutic candidates through the pipeline.
- Manage a high-performing team of scientists and researchers, providing mentorship and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Establish external partnerships with academic institutions, industry leaders, and regulatory bodies to enhance research capabilities and expand the organization's influence in the field.
- Present research findings and strategies to stakeholders, including executive leadership and funding agencies, to secure support and resources.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards in all research activities.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Virology, Molecular Biology, or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of relevant research experience.
- Proven track record of leading virology research programs with a focus on antiviral drug development.
- Strong publication record in high-impact scientific journals demonstrating expertise in virology.
- Experience in managing research teams and projects within an academic or industry setting.
Preferred:
- Experience with clinical trial design and execution related to antiviral therapies.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for drug development and experience interacting with regulatory agencies.
- Proficiency in advanced molecular techniques and bioinformatics tools relevant to virology research.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in viral pathogenesis, molecular virology, and antiviral mechanisms.
- Experience with high-throughput screening technologies and assay development.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and software for genomics and proteomics.
