Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Lead Veterinary Laboratory Technician to join our team, where you will oversee laboratory operations and ensure the quality and accuracy of diagnostic testing. This role is critical in enhancing our laboratory's efficiency and reliability, contributing to the overall mission of improving animal health.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage laboratory staff, ensuring adherence to protocols and quality standards in all laboratory operations.
- Develop and implement laboratory procedures, optimizing workflows for efficiency and accuracy in diagnostics.
- Oversee the validation and interpretation of laboratory test results, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Collaborate with veterinarians and clinical staff to discuss test results and provide expert recommendations for patient care.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain laboratory accreditation standards.
- Conduct regular training sessions for laboratory staff on new techniques and technologies.
- Monitor laboratory inventory and manage ordering supplies to maintain operational continuity.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in a veterinary laboratory setting, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary diagnostic procedures, including hematology, clinical chemistry, and microbiology.
- Demonstrated ability to manage laboratory staff and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in a relevant area.
- Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Familiarity with molecular diagnostics and emerging technologies in veterinary medicine.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in laboratory testing equipment and techniques used in veterinary diagnostics.
- Experience with quality control and quality assurance processes in a laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of data management and electronic reporting systems.
