Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Transportation Manager to oversee and optimize our logistics and transportation operations. In this role, you will be responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and management of transportation activities, ensuring compliance with all regulations while maintaining a focus on efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement transportation strategies that align with organizational goals and objectives
- Manage and oversee daily transportation operations, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods
- Analyze transportation metrics and KPIs to identify opportunities for improvement and cost savings
- Negotiate contracts with carriers and suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations
- Lead and mentor a team of logistics professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize supply chain processes and enhance service delivery
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in transportation management or logistics, with a proven track record of success
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations and compliance standards
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills
- Proficient in transportation management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred:
- Experience with route optimization and logistics planning software
- Master's degree in a related field
- Certification from a recognized logistics or supply chain association (e.g., APICS, CLTD)
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in logistics software and transportation management systems
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques to drive decision-making
- Hands-on experience with fleet management and route optimization tools
