Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Steam Plant Operations Manager to lead our operational efforts in maintaining and enhancing our steam production and distribution systems. This pivotal role will oversee the day-to-day management of plant operations, ensuring optimal performance, efficiency, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Responsibilities
- Direct the operations and maintenance of steam generation facilities, ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and operational standards
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize steam production
- Oversee the training and development of plant staff, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of equipment and processes to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with industry regulations
- Collaborate with engineering teams to evaluate and integrate new technologies and processes to improve plant performance
- Manage budgets and resources effectively to achieve operational targets while minimizing waste and downtime
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in steam plant operations or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Strong understanding of steam generation processes, equipment, and related technology
- Proven track record of managing large-scale operations and leading diverse teams
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field
- Experience with energy efficiency initiatives and sustainability practices in steam operations
- Certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or equivalent
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep expertise in steam generation systems, including boilers, turbines, and associated auxiliary equipment
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, process control, and instrumentation
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and methodologies for performance monitoring
Soft Skills and Cultural Fit
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and motivate teams
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage with diverse stakeholders
