Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and visionary VP of Safety to lead and elevate our safety initiatives across the organization. This executive role is critical in fostering a culture of safety, driving compliance, and implementing innovative safety programs that protect our employees, customers, and stakeholders. As a member of the executive leadership team, you will collaborate with cross-functional leaders to align safety objectives with our organizational goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive safety strategy that aligns with the company's mission and values
- Lead the safety department, ensuring effective management of safety programs, training, and compliance with industry regulations
- Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate safety practices into all operational processes and decision-making
- Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures
- Oversee the investigation of safety incidents, ensuring thorough analysis and implementation of preventive measures
- Drive safety culture initiatives that promote employee engagement and accountability for safety practices
- Provide regular reports to the executive team and board on safety performance metrics and improvement plans
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in safety leadership roles, preferably within a high-risk industry
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful safety programs that resulted in measurable improvements
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret safety data and drive actionable insights
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, or a related field
- Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar
- Experience in leading safety initiatives in a remote or hybrid work environment
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in safety management software and data analysis tools
- Experience with incident reporting systems and safety training platforms
- Knowledge of risk management frameworks and methodologies
