We are looking for a Lead Release Of Information Specialist to join our dynamic team at [$COMPANY_NAME]. Responsibilities
- Lead the Release of Information (ROI) team in processing requests for medical records, ensuring adherence to all federal and state regulations, including HIPAA guidelines.
- Develop and implement best practices for the ROI process to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure timely and accurate release of patient information, addressing any discrepancies or concerns that arise.
- Conduct regular training sessions for team members on compliance standards, policies, and procedures related to medical record requests.
- Monitor and analyze ROI metrics to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for operational enhancements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, including insurance companies, legal entities, and patients, regarding the release of information queries.
- Facilitate audits and maintain documentation related to ROI processes for compliance and quality assurance purposes.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in Release of Information, medical records management, or a related field, with a proven track record of leadership.
- In-depth knowledge of HIPAA regulations and experience ensuring compliance in medical records handling.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess and improve operational processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a healthcare setting with familiarity in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Certification in Health Information Management, such as RHIT or RHIA.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical coding standards.
- Experience with data management and record-keeping software.
- Strong understanding of privacy laws and regulations impacting health information.
