Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented Junior Release Of Information Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will support the management of patient health information requests while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies. You will play a vital role in facilitating the timely and accurate release of medical records to authorized requestors.
Responsibilities
- Review and process requests for patient health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate records of all release of information requests and responses.
- Work closely with healthcare providers and administrative staff to ensure efficient processing of requests.
- Communicate effectively with requestors to clarify information needed and provide updates on request status.
- Assist in training and mentoring new team members on release of information procedures and best practices.
- Participate in ongoing quality assurance activities to ensure compliance and improve processes.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Associate degree or equivalent work experience in healthcare administration, medical records, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy laws.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting or working with medical records.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Certification in health information management (e.g., RHIT, CHDA) is a plus.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with EHR systems and health information management software.
- Basic knowledge of data entry and management processes.
