Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Reading Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will implement targeted reading interventions, assess student progress, and collaborate with educators to foster a literacy-rich environment. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify reading challenges and develop individualized intervention plans.
- Implement evidence-based reading strategies and interventions tailored to diverse learning needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate literacy practices across the curriculum.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing feedback and adjusting strategies as needed.
- Facilitate small group instruction and one-on-one support to enhance literacy skills.
- Engage with families to promote literacy at home and provide resources for continued learning.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in literacy instruction.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Education, Reading, or a related field.
- State certification as a Reading Specialist or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience working with students in a reading intervention or instructional role.
- Strong knowledge of reading assessment tools and instructional strategies.
Preferred:
- Experience in a diverse educational setting with a variety of learning styles.
- Familiarity with current literacy research and trends in education.
- Certification in structured literacy approaches, such as Orton-Gillingham or similar methods.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in using educational technology tools to support literacy instruction.
- Ability to analyze student data to inform instruction and intervention.
- Experience with learning management systems and digital resources for literacy.
