Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and strategic Director of Literacy Programs to lead our initiatives aimed at improving literacy rates within our communities. This role will be instrumental in shaping and implementing comprehensive literacy programs that cater to diverse populations, ensuring access to quality education and resources. You will work collaboratively with a team of educators, community leaders, and stakeholders to drive impactful change.
Responsibilities
- Design and oversee the implementation of innovative literacy programs that address the specific needs of various communities
- Develop strategic partnerships with local organizations, schools, and government agencies to enhance program reach and effectiveness
- Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, using data-driven insights to refine and improve literacy initiatives continually
- Lead and mentor a team of educators and program coordinators, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional development
- Advocate for literacy initiatives at community events and educational forums, promoting the importance of literacy in personal and societal growth

Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Education, Literacy, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in program management or educational leadership, particularly in literacy or adult education
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful literacy programs
- Strong understanding of literacy assessment tools and methodologies
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
Preferred:
- Experience working within underserved communities and understanding of their unique challenges
- Familiarity with grant writing and fundraising to support program initiatives
- Leadership experience in a nonprofit or educational organization
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in educational technology tools and learning management systems
