Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Railroad Police Chief to lead our law enforcement efforts across our rail networks. This role is critical in ensuring the safety and security of our operations, personnel, and assets by implementing strategic law enforcement initiatives and collaborating with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive policing strategies to enhance safety and security across railroad operations
- Manage and supervise all Railroad Police personnel, ensuring high standards of performance and accountability
- Collaborate with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to address security threats and incidents
- Conduct risk assessments and develop response plans for various scenarios affecting railroad safety
- Oversee investigations and ensure thorough documentation and reporting of incidents
- Provide training and professional development opportunities for police staff
- Engage with community stakeholders to foster positive relationships and promote safety awareness
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of law enforcement experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Proven track record in public safety, criminal investigations, and risk management
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local laws affecting railroad operations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders
Preferred:
- Experience in railroad security or transportation safety
- Advanced degree in criminal justice, public administration, or a related field
- Certification from a recognized law enforcement agency
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in law enforcement technologies, including surveillance systems and incident reporting software
