Role Overview
We are seeking a Lead Railroad Brake Operator to oversee and ensure the safe and efficient operation of our rail transport systems. This crucial role involves coordinating brake operations, maintaining safety standards, and leading a team dedicated to optimizing performance and reliability in railroad operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the activities of brake operators to ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational standards.
- Implement and monitor brake systems on trains, identifying and addressing any issues that may arise during operations.
- Conduct thorough inspections of brake systems, ensuring all equipment meets regulatory requirements and is in optimal working order.
- Develop and maintain training programs for staff, promoting best practices in brake operation and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to braking systems.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to brake operations, incidents, and maintenance activities for regulatory compliance.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in railroad operations, specifically in brake system management or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of federal regulations and safety standards pertaining to railroad operations.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and mentor a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Certification in railroad operations or related technical training.
- Experience with advanced braking technologies and systems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- In-depth knowledge of railroad braking systems, including pneumatic and electronic controls.
- Familiarity with safety management systems and compliance software.
- Experience with data analysis tools for operational performance monitoring.
