Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Purchasing to oversee our procurement operations. In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of purchasing strategies that optimize our supply chain, reduce costs, and ensure the quality of goods and services acquired. Your leadership will be pivotal in fostering strong supplier relationships and driving initiatives that align with our organizational goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive purchasing strategies that align with company objectives and market trends
- Lead and mentor a high-performing purchasing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and drive cost savings
- Conduct market analysis to identify potential suppliers and assess the competitive landscape
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure consistent quality and service
- Implement and manage procurement processes to enhance efficiency and compliance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand purchasing needs and develop solutions that meet business requirements
- Monitor and analyze purchasing data to identify trends and implement corrective actions as necessary
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with a strong track record in a leadership role
- Proven experience in developing and executing purchasing strategies that drive cost reductions
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships
- In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices and supply chain principles
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
Preferred:
- Experience in a fast-paced industry with complex supply chains
- Master's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field
- Professional certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM)
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in procurement software and e-sourcing tools
- Strong understanding of inventory management systems and ERP platforms
- Experience with data analysis and procurement analytics tools
