Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Peer Support Manager to lead our peer support initiatives. This role is crucial in fostering a supportive environment for individuals facing mental health challenges, leveraging lived experiences to empower and guide others on their recovery journeys. You will develop and implement peer support programs that align with our mission and promote resilience and community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Design and oversee peer support programs that enhance the well-being and recovery of participants.
- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of peer supporters, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and resources to provide effective support.
- Develop training materials and workshops that focus on best practices in peer support and recovery-oriented practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to create a seamless integration of peer support within existing mental health services.
- Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, using data to drive continuous improvement and demonstrate efficacy.
- Advocate for the inclusion of peer support services within broader mental health initiatives and policies.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in peer support or a related field, with a strong understanding of mental health challenges and recovery processes.
- Certification in Peer Support or equivalent experience demonstrating lived experience in mental health recovery.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor individuals, fostering a culture of empowerment and respect.
Preferred:
- Experience in program development and evaluation within the mental health sector.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles.
- Familiarity with community resources and services related to mental health support.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in using digital communication tools and platforms for remote support and training.
- Experience with data collection and analysis to assess program effectiveness.
- Knowledge of relevant mental health management systems and software.
Soft Skills and Cultural Fit
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse populations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
