Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Department Head for Physical Education to lead our innovative and dynamic educational program. This role will be instrumental in shaping the curriculum, fostering a culture of health and fitness, and ensuring the highest standards of physical education are delivered across our institution.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum that aligns with educational standards and promotes lifelong fitness.
- Lead a team of educators, providing mentorship and guidance to ensure effective teaching practices are employed.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate physical education across the school’s curriculum.
- Evaluate and assess student progress, utilizing data to inform instructional strategies and program improvements.
- Foster partnerships with local organizations to enhance student engagement in physical activities and sports.
- Manage departmental budgets, resources, and planning to ensure optimal program delivery.
- Champion a culture of inclusivity, encouraging participation from all students in various physical activities.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in physical education teaching, with a demonstrated track record of leadership in an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of current trends in physical education and youth sports.
- Ability to develop educational programs that promote physical fitness and healthy lifestyles.
Preferred:
- Experience in curriculum development and program assessment.
- Proven experience in coaching and managing sports teams.
- Familiarity with technology integration in physical education.
- Certification in First Aid/CPR and other relevant credentials.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in using educational technologies for teaching and assessment purposes.
- Experience with fitness assessment tools and performance tracking software.
- Knowledge of health and physical education standards and guidelines.
