Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary Math Department Chair who will lead and inspire our mathematics faculty while fostering an environment of academic excellence and innovation. You will be responsible for the strategic direction of the math department, ensuring that our curriculum is rigorous, relevant, and aligned with the latest educational standards. This role requires a blend of leadership, strategic planning, and a passion for mathematics education.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of the math curriculum that meets diverse student needs and aligns with institutional goals.
- Foster a collaborative environment among faculty, promoting best practices in teaching and learning.
- Conduct regular evaluations of faculty performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance for professional development.
- Manage departmental budgets, resources, and staffing in accordance with institutional policies.
- Engage with stakeholders, including students, parents, and the community, to promote the department and its initiatives.
- Stay current with educational advancements and integrate innovative teaching methodologies into the curriculum.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in Mathematics or a related field; PhD preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in teaching mathematics at the secondary or post-secondary level.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within an academic setting.
- Strong understanding of curriculum development and instructional design.
Preferred:
- Experience with educational technology and online teaching platforms.
- Record of successful collaboration with faculty and administration.
- Published research in mathematics education or related fields.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in using educational software and tools for teaching and assessment.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools that inform instructional practices and curriculum development.
- Experience with classroom management systems and learning management systems (LMS).
