Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented Director of Merchandise Planning to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your expertise to optimize our merchandise planning processes, ensuring product availability aligns with customer demand while maximizing profitability. You will lead the planning team, driving innovation and best practices in merchandise strategy to enhance our competitive positioning and customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead the merchandise planning function, developing and executing strategies that align with business goals and customer expectations
- Oversee inventory management, forecasting, and allocation processes to maximize sales and minimize markdowns
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including merchandising, marketing, and supply chain to align on product assortments and promotional strategies
- Utilize advanced analytics to assess merchandise performance, identify trends, and inform decision-making
- Mentor and develop a high-performing planning team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
- Establish KPIs to measure planning effectiveness and drive data-driven outcomes
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in merchandise planning or related fields, with a proven track record of strategic leadership
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools to drive insights and recommendations
- Experience in demand forecasting, assortment planning, and inventory management
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and drive consensus across teams
Preferred:
- Experience in the retail or e-commerce industry
- Advanced degree in business or related field
- Proficiency in merchandise planning software and tools
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep understanding of merchandise planning systems and inventory management software
- Experience with advanced analytics techniques, including predictive modeling and trend analysis
- Familiarity with ERP systems and data visualization tools
