Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Medical Office Coordinator to join our dynamic team. In this fully remote role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office, providing exceptional support to both patients and healthcare professionals. Your organizational skills and expertise in medical office procedures will be vital in facilitating effective communication and optimizing patient care.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient scheduling, ensuring timely appointments and efficient use of physician time
- Coordinate patient intake processes, including verifying insurance information and collecting necessary documentation
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patient inquiries, addressing concerns and providing information regarding services
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers, ensuring seamless information flow
- Assist in billing and coding processes, ensuring accurate submission of claims and following up on outstanding payments
- Implement and maintain office policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency
- Support the onboarding and training of new administrative staff
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 2+ years of experience in a medical office or healthcare administrative role
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, insurance processes, and healthcare regulations
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred:
- Experience with medical billing and coding
- Familiarity with telehealth systems and patient management software
- Certification in medical office administration or related field
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and practice management software
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Understanding of data entry and management best practices
