Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Medical Interpreter Supervisor to lead our team of interpreters in providing high-quality language services to patients and healthcare providers. You will play a critical role in ensuring effective communication in diverse healthcare settings, while also fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the team.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage a team of medical interpreters, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance
- Develop and implement interpreter training programs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices
- Monitor and evaluate interpreter performance through regular assessments and feedback sessions
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to address communication needs and improve patient outcomes
- Maintain quality control of interpretation services by conducting audits and analyzing feedback from patients and providers
- Serve as a liaison between interpreters, healthcare staff, and administration to promote effective communication
- Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in medical interpretation
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in medical interpretation, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Fluency in English and at least one other language, with excellent interpretation skills in both
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare systems
- Proven ability to manage a team effectively, with strong leadership and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- Certification in medical interpretation (e.g., CMI, CHI, or equivalent)
- Experience in training and mentoring interpreters
- Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal regulations related to medical interpretation
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in using interpretation management software and telecommunication tools
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Ability to leverage technology for remote interpretation services
