Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Collections Manager to lead our collections team in optimizing billing processes, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and maximizing revenue recovery. This role is critical in managing the end-to-end collections process, implementing best practices, and mentoring team members to foster a culture of excellence in medical billing and collections.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the medical collections team, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations
- Develop and implement effective collections strategies to minimize outstanding accounts receivable and improve cash flow
- Analyze collection data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, payers, and internal departments to resolve billing discrepancies and optimize revenue recovery
- Train and mentor team members on best practices in medical collections, dispute resolution, and patient communication
- Prepare and present regular reports on collections performance, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior leadership
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in medical collections, billing, or related field, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, billing practices, and collections processes
- Proven track record of managing teams and achieving revenue targets
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building relationships
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software
- Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) or similar certification
- Familiarity with payer contracting and negotiations
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in medical billing software, electronic health record systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with data analysis tools and reporting software
- Knowledge of revenue cycle management (RCM) processes
