Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and strategic Medical Billing Manager to join our team. In this fully remote role, you will lead the billing department, ensuring the timely and accurate submission of claims, while optimizing processes to maximize revenue cycle efficiency. You will play a critical role in establishing best practices and mentoring billing staff to uphold compliance and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire billing process, including claim submission, payment posting, and follow-up on outstanding claims
- Develop and implement billing policies and procedures that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the billing department
- Analyze billing and collections data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry changes
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and departments to resolve billing discrepancies and improve patient satisfaction
- Lead, train, and mentor billing staff, providing guidance on best practices and professional development
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in medical billing and coding, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, procedure codes (CPT, ICD-10), and payer guidelines
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail, with a proven ability to troubleshoot billing issues
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage with diverse stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, finance, or a related field
- Certification in medical billing and coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, or similar)
- Experience with revenue cycle management and optimization strategies
- Familiarity with healthcare compliance regulations, including HIPAA and Medicare guidelines
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in using billing software such as AdvancedMD, Kareo, or similar platforms
- Experience with data analytics tools to drive billing insights and reporting
- Ability to leverage technology to streamline billing processes and improve accuracy
