Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Fleet Supervisor to oversee our Log Truck Operations. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your extensive knowledge of fleet management, logistics, and operational efficiency to ensure the smooth and safe transportation of logs from forestry sites to processing facilities. You will play a vital role in optimizing fleet performance, coordinating with drivers, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operations of the log truck fleet, ensuring optimal utilization and compliance with safety standards
- Manage scheduling and dispatching of log trucks, coordinating routes and deliveries to maximize efficiency
- Monitor fleet performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions
- Lead and mentor a team of drivers, providing training and support to enhance driving skills and adherence to safety protocols
- Conduct regular inspections of vehicles and equipment, ensuring all are properly maintained and compliant with regulations
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement cost-effective logistical strategies
- Maintain accurate records of fleet operations, including maintenance, repairs, and compliance documentation
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in fleet management, logistics, or transportation operations
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety compliance related to commercial trucking
- Proven track record of managing a team and improving operational efficiency
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills
Preferred:
- Experience in the forestry or timber industry
- Familiarity with fleet management software and GPS tracking systems
- Strong analytical skills to assess fleet performance data
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in fleet management systems and software
- Knowledge of maintenance management systems and tracking tools
- Understanding of telematics and vehicle tracking technologies
