Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Logging Flatbed Truck Driver to join our team, responsible for transporting timber and related materials safely and efficiently. This role requires a focus on safety, compliance with regulations, and the ability to lead a small team of drivers while maintaining high standards in load management and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Operate logging flatbed trucks to transport logs and materials from forest sites to processing facilities or delivery points.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, including vehicle inspections and maintenance checks.
- Lead and mentor a team of drivers, providing guidance on best practices in safe driving and load securement.
- Conduct thorough inspections of loads to ensure secure transport and adherence to weight limits.
- Maintain accurate logs of hours worked, mileage, and any incidents that occur during transport.
- Collaborate with dispatchers to optimize routes and schedules for timely deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding delivery timelines and any potential issues.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- 5+ years of experience driving flatbed trucks, specifically in logging or heavy haul transport.
- Strong knowledge of logging industry regulations and safety practices.
- Proven ability to lead a team and manage driver performance effectively.
Preferred:
- Experience with load securement techniques specific to logging.
- First aid and CPR certification.
- Familiarity with GPS and route optimization software.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in operating flatbed trucks and heavy equipment.
- Ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on trucks.
- Strong understanding of load management and weight distribution principles.
