Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Local Area Network Administrator to join our IT team. In this role, you will support the deployment, management, and troubleshooting of our local area network (LAN) infrastructure, ensuring optimal connectivity and performance for our users.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of network devices such as switches, routers, and firewalls
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues, ensuring minimal downtime
- Support the implementation of network security protocols and best practices
- Document network configurations and maintain accurate records of network changes and incidents
- Provide technical support to end-users, addressing network-related inquiries and issues
- Collaborate with senior network engineers on projects to enhance network reliability and performance
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 1+ years of experience in network administration or a related field
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs)
- Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Relevant technical certifications (CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent) are a plus
Preferred:
- Experience with Windows Server environments and Active Directory
- Knowledge of network security practices and firewalls
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in networking hardware configuration and management
- Understanding of network protocols and standards
- Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or PRTG
