Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Library Circulation Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our library's circulation department. This role is critical in ensuring a seamless user experience while managing circulation processes, supervising staff, and implementing innovative technologies that enhance library services.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the circulation team to ensure efficient operation of library services such as check-outs, returns, and renewals.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for circulation operations, ensuring compliance with best practices and standards.
- Oversee the training and development of circulation staff, fostering a collaborative and customer-focused work environment.
- Utilize library management systems to monitor circulation metrics, analyze trends, and prepare reports for library administration.
- Implement technology solutions to streamline circulation processes and enhance user engagement.
- Serve as a point of contact for patron inquiries, resolving issues related to library materials and services.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in library circulation or a related area, with a proven track record of supervisory experience.
- Strong understanding of library operations and circulation management.
- Proficiency in library management systems and emerging technologies relevant to circulation.
Preferred:
- Experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a library setting.
- Familiarity with innovative library services and programs that enhance user experiences.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in integrated library systems (ILS) such as Sierra, Alma, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency with digital circulation tools and technologies.
- Experience with data analysis tools for monitoring circulation metrics.
