Role Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Lead Lactation Consultant to join our healthcare team. In this fully remote role, you will provide expert guidance and support to new mothers, ensuring they receive the best lactation care possible. You will leverage your expertise to develop resources and training programs while leading a team of lactation consultants to enhance the quality of care.
Responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based lactation consultations to mothers and infants, addressing a variety of feeding challenges and providing tailored strategies for successful breastfeeding.
- Lead and mentor a team of lactation consultants, fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement and professional development.
- Develop and implement training programs for staff and community education initiatives to promote breastfeeding best practices.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify the unique needs of clients and create personalized care plans.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure a holistic approach to maternal and infant care.
- Stay current with lactation research and guidelines, integrating new findings into practice to enhance care delivery.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Registered Nurse (RN) or equivalent healthcare degree with certification as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
- 5+ years of experience in lactation consulting or maternal/child health.
- Strong knowledge of breastfeeding techniques, challenges, and solutions.
- Proven ability to work with diverse populations and provide culturally competent care.
Preferred:
- Experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with telehealth practices and virtual care delivery.
- Active involvement in relevant professional organizations or committees.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in using telehealth platforms and electronic health records (EHR).
- Ability to analyze data and generate reports to inform practice improvements.
- Knowledge of maternal and infant health guidelines and standards.
