Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary Chief Instructional Materials Officer to lead the strategic development and implementation of high-quality educational resources across our organization. This role is essential in shaping the vision for instructional materials that engage learners and support our mission of delivering exceptional educational outcomes. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our materials are not only innovative but also aligned with best practices in pedagogy and curriculum design.
Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic direction for the development and curation of instructional materials that are effective, accessible, and inclusive for diverse learner populations.
- Oversee the lifecycle of instructional materials, including needs assessment, design, development, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with educational leaders, curriculum designers, and subject matter experts to ensure alignment with educational standards and learner needs.
- Foster a culture of innovation in instructional design practices, ensuring the integration of emerging technologies and teaching methodologies.
- Develop metrics for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional materials and implement data-driven improvements.
- Manage a team of instructional designers and content creators, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
- Establish partnerships with external organizations and stakeholders to enhance the reach and impact of our instructional materials.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or related fields, with a proven track record in leadership roles.
- Strong understanding of instructional design principles, learning theory, and educational technology.
- Experience in developing and implementing instructional materials for K-12 or higher education.
- Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree in Education, Instructional Design, or a related field.
- Experience with diverse learning environments, including online, blended, and in-person education.
- Familiarity with educational standards and frameworks such as Common Core or Next Generation Science Standards.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in instructional design software and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Experience with content creation tools such as Articulate, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar.
- Understanding of data analytics tools to assess the effectiveness of instructional materials.
