Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Director specializing in Ichthyology to lead and advance our research initiatives. In this role, you will spearhead cutting-edge research projects aimed at understanding fish biodiversity, ecology, and conservation. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and stakeholders to drive impactful research outcomes and contribute to the advancement of ichthyological knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic planning and execution of innovative research projects focusing on fish species, their habitats, and ecological dynamics.
- Develop and implement research methodologies that ensure high-quality data collection and analysis.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance research capabilities and expand our scientific network.
- Mentor and guide junior researchers and staff, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and professional development.
- Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present results at national and international conferences.
- Secure funding through grant proposals and partnerships to support ongoing and future research initiatives.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Ichthyology, Marine Biology, or a related field with a minimum of 8 years of postdoctoral research experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in fish biology, ecology, and conservation strategies.
- Proven track record of leading successful research projects and securing research funding.
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
Preferred:
- Experience in managing and mentoring research teams.
- Familiarity with advanced statistical methods and data analysis software.
- Experience in engaging with policy-makers and stakeholders in conservation efforts.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in fish sampling techniques, biodiversity assessment, and ecological modeling.
- Proficient in statistical analysis software such as R, Python, or similar tools.
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for spatial analysis.
