Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Supervisory Fishery Biologist to lead our fisheries management program. In this critical role, you will oversee a team of biologists dedicated to the conservation, management, and sustainable use of fishery resources. Your expertise will guide scientific research, policy development, and stakeholder engagement to ensure healthy aquatic ecosystems.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor a team of fishery biologists, fostering a collaborative and innovative research environment
- Develop and implement fisheries management plans based on sound scientific principles and data analysis
- Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to assess fish populations and habitats, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations

- Prepare and present technical reports, research findings, and policy recommendations to diverse audiences

Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Fishery Biology, Aquatic Ecology, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing research teams and projects
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in statistical software and data management tools
- Knowledge of fishery regulations and management practices at local, state, and federal levels
Preferred:
- PhD in a relevant field with at least 3 years of supervisory experience
- Experience with habitat restoration projects and stakeholder engagement initiatives
- Publication record in peer-reviewed journals related to fishery science or management
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for spatial analysis and habitat mapping
- Experience with fish population modeling software (e.g., R, Stock Synthesis)
- Understanding of environmental impact assessment procedures and methodologies
