Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heat Treat Manager to oversee our heat treatment operations, ensuring quality and efficiency in processing heat-treated materials. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity of our production processes and aligning with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize heat treatment processes to ensure consistency and quality of treated materials.
- Oversee the daily operations of the heat treat department, including equipment maintenance, scheduling, and personnel management.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for heat treatment processes, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of heat treatment operations to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to address any material discrepancies or process issues.
- Lead training programs for staff on heat treatment techniques and safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to heat treatment operations, including process parameters and equipment performance.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in heat treatment processes within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of metallurgical principles and heat treatment methods.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex operations effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing.
- Familiarity with computer-controlled heat treat equipment.
- Certifications in heat treating or related processes.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in heat treatment technologies, including quenching, tempering, and annealing.
- Knowledge of material properties and the impact of heat treatment on performance.
- Experience with data analysis tools for process optimization.
