Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Heat Treating Supervisor to oversee the heat treating processes in our production facility. This role is critical in ensuring that all materials are treated to the highest standards, optimizing processes for efficiency and quality, and leading a team of skilled technicians in achieving production goals.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the heat treating operations, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Lead, train, and mentor a team of technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste in the heat treating process.
- Analyze and interpret heat treating data to ensure product specifications are met consistently.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to troubleshoot and resolve production issues swiftly.
- Maintain accurate records of heat treating processes and ensure documentation is up to date.
- Ensure equipment maintenance and calibration are performed regularly to uphold operational integrity.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in heat treating or related manufacturing processes.
- Proven leadership experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of metallurgical principles and heat treating processes.
- Experience with process optimization and quality control methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Familiarity with heat treating equipment such as furnaces, quench tanks, and temperature control systems.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- In-depth knowledge of heat treating techniques, including hardening, tempering, and annealing.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software for monitoring heat treating processes.
- Experience with quality management systems and standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
