Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Chief Actuary (Health) to lead our actuarial team in providing insights and strategies that drive our health insurance products. In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing all actuarial functions, including pricing, reserving, regulatory compliance, and the development of innovative models to enhance our competitive positioning in the health insurance market.
Responsibilities
- Lead the actuarial department, developing and mentoring a high-performing team of actuaries and analysts
- Oversee pricing strategies for health insurance products, ensuring alignment with market dynamics and regulatory requirements
- Develop and maintain robust reserving methodologies to ensure the financial stability of our health offerings
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including underwriting, finance, and product development to inform strategic decision-making
- Provide expert guidance on actuarial analysis for regulatory compliance and financial reporting
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation within the actuarial practice
- Engage with external stakeholders, including regulators and consultants, to represent the organization's actuarial interests
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation or equivalent
- 10+ years of experience in health actuarial roles, with a proven leadership track record
- Extensive knowledge of health insurance products, pricing, and reserving techniques
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical modeling and data analysis
Preferred:
- Experience with predictive analytics and machine learning applications in healthcare
- Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale actuarial projects and teams
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in actuarial software tools (e.g., SAS, R, Python) and Excel
- Experience with database management and data visualization tools
- Strong understanding of healthcare data, including claims and utilization analysis
