Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Master Hand Potter to join our artisanal ceramics team at [$COMPANY_NAME]. Responsibilities
- Craft exquisite handmade pottery using traditional techniques and modern methods to produce functional and decorative pieces
- Collaborate with the design team to conceptualize and develop new pottery collections that align with market trends and customer preferences
- Manage the entire pottery production process, including clay preparation, throwing, glazing, and firing
- Ensure quality control at every stage of production, identifying and addressing any issues promptly
- Maintain and organize the pottery studio, ensuring a safe and efficient workspace
- Mentor junior potters and interns, sharing techniques and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
- Participate in workshops, exhibitions, and other events to showcase our pottery and engage with the community
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in pottery making with a strong portfolio showcasing your craftsmanship
- Proficient in various hand-building and throwing techniques, including wheel throwing and slab construction
- Deep understanding of glazing techniques and kiln operations
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality ceramic pieces
Preferred:
- Experience with sustainable materials and eco-friendly practices in pottery production
- Background in ceramics design or fine arts
- Familiarity with digital design tools to assist in the conceptualization of new collections
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in hand potting techniques and ceramic fabrication
- Knowledge of kiln types and firing processes, including gas, electric, and wood-fired
- Familiarity with various clay bodies and glazes, including stoneware, porcelain, and earthenware
