Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the management and maintenance of our premier golf facility. In this role, you will implement sustainable agronomic practices, ensure the health and aesthetic quality of our turf, and lead a skilled team to deliver an exceptional golfing experience for our members and guests.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive turf management plan, focusing on soil health, pest control, and irrigation efficiency.
- Lead daily operations including mowing, aeration, fertilization, and pest management while ensuring adherence to environmental regulations.
- Oversee the maintenance of golf course equipment, ensuring all machinery is in optimal working condition.
- Manage the turf budget, including planning and forecasting for necessary supplies and equipment.
- Train and mentor staff in best practices for golf course maintenance and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with the club management team to enhance course conditioning and overall member satisfaction.
- Monitor weather conditions and adjust maintenance activities accordingly to maintain optimal course conditions.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Turf Management or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in golf course maintenance, with a progressive track record in leadership roles.
- Strong understanding of agronomy, horticulture, and environmental sustainability.
- Ability to operate and maintain golf course machinery and irrigation systems.
Preferred:
- Certification from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA).
- Experience with organic turf management practices.
- Proficiency in managing multiple projects simultaneously and adapting to changing priorities.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in turfgrass species identification and management.
- Familiarity with irrigation management software and technologies.
- Proficient in using maintenance management systems for tracking equipment and supplies.
