Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Agronomy to lead our agronomic initiatives and drive innovation in sustainable agricultural practices. This pivotal role requires a deep understanding of agronomy, crop science, and soil management, as well as the ability to translate scientific research into practical applications that enhance productivity and sustainability across our operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement agronomic strategies that align with our organizational goals and sustainability initiatives
- Oversee research and development efforts related to crop genetics, soil health, and pest management to improve yield and environmental stewardship
- Lead a team of agronomists and technicians, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, supply chain, and marketing to integrate agronomic insights into business practices
- Establish performance metrics and monitor progress towards agronomic objectives, ensuring accountability and effectiveness
- Engage with external stakeholders including farmers, industry experts, and regulatory bodies to promote best practices and advance our mission
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, Soil Science, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in agronomy or related field, with a focus on sustainable agriculture practices
- Proven track record of leading teams and managing complex projects in agricultural settings
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and apply research findings to practical scenarios
Preferred:
- PhD in Agronomy or related field
- Experience with precision agriculture technologies and data analytics
- Strong network within the agricultural community and familiarity with regulatory frameworks
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in agronomic software and tools for data analysis and modeling
- Understanding of soil health assessment techniques and crop management systems
- Familiarity with remote sensing technology and its applications in agriculture
