Role Overview
We are seeking a distinguished academic leader for the position of Endowed Chair in Geomatics. This role is pivotal in advancing our research and teaching initiatives in the field of geomatics, integrating cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to address contemporary challenges in spatial data analysis and management. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for research and teaching in geomatics, aligning with departmental and institutional goals
- Lead groundbreaking research initiatives, securing funding and fostering partnerships with industry and governmental organizations
- Deliver high-quality instruction at both undergraduate and graduate levels, developing innovative curricula that reflect advancements in the field
- Mentor and guide students and junior faculty, promoting a culture of academic excellence and inquiry
- Engage with the broader geomatics community through conferences, publications, and collaborative projects
- Participate in departmental governance and contribute to the development of institutional policies and initiatives
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Geomatics, Geography, Geospatial Science, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated leadership in research with a strong record of publications in high-impact journals
- Experience in securing research funding from federal, state, and private sources
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring
- Proficiency in advanced geospatial technologies and methodologies
Preferred:
- Experience in interdisciplinary research and collaboration across diverse fields
- Established network within the geomatics community and related industries
- Prior experience in administrative roles or academic leadership positions
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, and spatial data analysis
- Proficiency with programming languages such as Python or R for spatial data processing
- Familiarity with industry-standard tools and software, including ArcGIS, QGIS, and other geospatial technologies
Soft Skills and Cultural Fit
