Role Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Freight Manager to lead and optimize our logistics operations. In this pivotal role, you will develop and implement freight strategies that enhance our supply chain efficiency and reduce costs, while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and maintaining exceptional service standards.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the end-to-end freight process, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution of goods.
- Develop and implement freight policies and procedures to optimize logistics operations and improve service delivery.
- Negotiate contracts and rates with carriers, ensuring favorable terms and cost-effective solutions.
- Analyze freight data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement actionable strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align freight activities with overall business objectives and customer needs.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and industry standards related to freight and logistics.
- Monitor and manage freight budgets, forecasting costs and identifying opportunities for savings.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in freight management or logistics, with a proven track record of optimizing supply chain operations.
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations, freight carriers, and logistics best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions to improve operational efficiency.
- Excellent negotiation skills and experience managing contracts with freight providers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with freight management software and tools.
- Knowledge of international shipping and customs regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in logistics and supply chain management software (e.g., TMS, WMS).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Experience with ERP systems and data analysis tools.
