Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Fire Chief to support our mission of ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. Responsibilities
- Assist the Fire Chief in developing and implementing departmental policies, procedures, and strategic plans.
- Supervise and coordinate daily fire operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
- Lead and mentor fire personnel, promoting professional development and continuous training.
- Manage emergency response operations, including fire suppression, rescue, and hazardous materials incidents.
- Oversee departmental budgets, resource allocation, and grant applications for funding.
- Collaborate with local government and community organizations to enhance fire prevention and education initiatives.
- Participate in community outreach programs to build positive relationships and educate the public on fire safety.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fire service, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Extensive knowledge of fire prevention, suppression, and emergency management principles.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Current certifications in Firefighter II, Fire Officer I, and Fire Instructor I.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with incident command systems and fire investigation techniques.
- Advanced certifications such as Fire Officer II or Fire Chief.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in fire service software applications for incident reporting and resource management.
- Knowledge of fire suppression equipment and technologies, including aerial apparatus and firefighting tools.
- Familiarity with emergency dispatch systems and communication protocols.
