Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and visionary Director of Financial Aid to lead our financial aid operations and to foster an equitable financial aid experience for our students. In this role, you will oversee the development and implementation of financial aid policies and procedures that align with our institutional goals, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the financial aid office in delivering effective financial aid services and support to prospective and current students
- Develop and implement financial aid policies and procedures that promote access and affordability
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance the financial aid process and improve student satisfaction
- Oversee the financial aid budget, ensuring responsible management of resources
- Monitor compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, conducting regular audits and assessments
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the financial aid team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability
- Analyze data and trends to inform decision-making and financial aid strategies
- Represent the financial aid office in institutional meetings and committees
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in education, finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in financial aid administration, preferably in higher education
- Strong understanding of federal and state financial aid regulations
- Proven leadership and management experience, with a track record of improving financial aid operations
Preferred:
- Experience with financial aid software systems and data management
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative financial aid strategies
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision-making
- Experience in training and developing staff in a financial aid context
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in financial aid management systems (e.g., Banner, PowerFAIDS)
- Strong skills in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, SQL)
- Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) systems
